چکیده

Dandruff is a common scalp condition. The immune-microenvironment of dandruff skin remains poorly characterised and the hair follicle’s physiological immune privilege (HF IP) status in completely unknown. We hypothesised that latter might be important context dandruff-associated inflammation as HF IP expected to impact on overall immunophysiology. analysed expression biomarkers (CD200, MHC class I, β2M, II) guardians (α-MSH MIF), quantified intra- perifollicular cells (CD4, CD8 CD68) healthy versus (non-lesional lesional) biopsies by quantitative immunohistomorphometry(n= 5-8). Class I protein was increased proximal outer root sheath (ORS) non-lesional lesional HFs, while β2M ORS HFs bulge HFs. CD200 unaltered. locally produced potent immunoinhibitory guardian, MIF, decreased infundibulum, bulge, α-MSH Langerhans cells, labelled intraepithelial II+ staining, were infundibulum (p<0.01). In epidermis, CD4+ CD8+ T significantly (p<0.0001). number CD68+ Macrophages, remained unchanged Together, this work presents first evidence associated with weakened IP, reduction epidermal infiltration cells.

What is immune privilege (not)?

The 'immune privilege' of the central nervous system (CNS) is indispensable for damage limitation during inflammation in a sensitive organ with poor regenerative capacity. It is a longstanding notion which, over time, has acquired several misconceptions and a lack of precision in its definition. In this article, we address these issues and re-define CNS immune privilege in the light of recent d...

abstract while task-based instruction is considered as the most effective way to learn a language in the related literature, it is oversimplified on various grounds. different variables may affect how students are engaged with not only the language but also with the task itself. the present study was conducted to investigate language and task related engagement on the basis of the task typolog...

Immune Privilege

T he concept of immune privilege refers to the observation that tissue grafts placed in certain anatomical sites, including the brain and eye, can survive for extended periods of time (1). Immune privilege is thought to reflect an evolutionary adaptation to protect vital structures from damage by inflammatory responses directed against pathogens. It was originally believed that antigens in immu...

Immune reactions in skin and hair follicle gene therapy.

An immunological response to non-native proteins is a problem that must be overcome for successful gene therapy. A study by Ghazizadeh et al. in this issue of Molecular Therapy describes the immune response to retrovirus-mediated lacZ gene transfer to the skin [1]. The study shows that both CD4 and CD8 immune responses need to be eliminated to permit persistent expression of this transgene. The...

Mechanism of Immune Privilege

The eye is a privileged site that cannot tolerate destructive inflammatory responses. Inflammatory cells entering the anterior chamber of the eye in response to viral infection underwent apoptosis that was dependent on Fas (CD95)-Fas ligand (FasL) and produced no tissue damage. In contrast, viral infection in gid mice, which lack functional FasL, resulted in an inflammation and invasion of ocul...
